All My Friends Have White Walls And Beige Carpet
A clock ticks loudly. Your feet sink into the forest green shag. Pendant lights in yellow hues glow from above. Little paintings and drawings hang from any available space. Books, plants and trinkets occupy the teak shelf. Brown velour curtains pleat against the fireplace. A plastic coffee table is adorned with a painted ashtray and matching vase. A red vinyl lounge curves invitingly. A veneered door leads to a mosaiced kitchen. It's chaos - and it's perfect.
What happened to bold floors and furnishings? Why does everyone paint their walls white? This series of paintings are my interiors imagined with the help of styling magazines from the 1970s-80s. Here I have played the role of home decorator with a flare for fun walls, floors and everything in-between.
